Sean Amirzadeh, MD, born and raised in Orlando, Florida, earned his Bachelor of Science at the University of Central Florida and completed medical school at Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine’s Bradenton campus. He received his Internal Medicine training at the University of South Florida, where he served as Chief Resident. Following board certification in Internal Medicine, he pursued subspecialty training in Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism at the University of South Florida, serving as Chief Fellow. An active member of the American Association of Clinical Endocrinology, he has authored numerous publications and quality improvement projects.

Alberto Garcia Mendez joined Bay Area Endocrinology Associates in 2018 and has since been a valuable asset to the practice. Originally from Cuba, he earned his medical degree in 1999 from ISCM in Villa Clara. He pursued subspecialty training in Family Practice (2000-2004) and Geriatrics (2006-2010), which provided him with extensive clinical training and experience. After immigrating to the US in 2015, he completed the Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner program at South University in 2018. A dedicated father of two, Alberto enjoys spending time with family and friends.
Alberto’s superb clinical knowledge and experience are matched by his leadership skills and dedication to patient care. He has a strong interest in managing diabetes and has worked to improve access to care for various populations.
In 2013, Alberto traveled to Ecuador, where he practiced as a physician, supervised a group of medical professionals, and managed a diabetes screening and management outreach program.
Alberto is motivated by the motto “you never stop learning.” He stays updated with the latest medical practice guidelines from various Endocrine societies and attends annual meetings. He also plays a significant role in educating the next generation of medical providers as adjunct faculty, preceptor, and instructor at South University and Ana G. Mendez University.
Known for his commitment to patient care, Alberto is a good listener, attentive to patient needs, and always willing to go the extra mile. He handles challenging thyroid, adrenal, parathyroid, and pituitary cases with expertise.
Lauren Sosdorf, MSN, APRN, FNP-C, CDCES, is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner and Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist. With over 10 years of experience in endocrinology, Lauren has been a valuable asset to Bay Area Endocrinology Associates. She received her Nurse Practitioner education at the University of South Florida and her Post-Masters Certification in Family Practice at the University of Massachusetts Boston. Lauren is also the author of several peer-reviewed articles published in Advanced Practice Nursing magazines and is a contributing reviewer for the endocrinology section in the Clinical Guidelines in Primary Care, 4th edition textbook.

Diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at age 9, Lauren is a passionate diabetes advocate, active in the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, and a guest lecturer for Cups of Hope gatherings.
Specializes in diabetes care and education, helping patients incorporate diabetes management into their daily lives. She is also a certified insulin pump and continuous glucose monitor educator.
